Garden State Coffee: Our Favorite North Jersey Cafes

We’ve dedicated a lot of posts to highlighting some of the great coffee shops in New York City’s thriving scene, but now we want to take things across the ol’ river into Jersey. The Garden State is full of culture and funky cafes, and here are some of our favorites in the northern parts of the state.

The Warehouse Cafe (Jersey City)

The Warehouse Cafe is not only crazy good, but their menu is loaded with amazing ORGANIC options! Try the Organic Masala Chai Latte and indulge your inner child with a Chunky Peanut Butter and Wildflower Honey Sandwich.

Bean Vault Cafe (Hoboken)

If you have ever walked past this coffee shop, you know that it’s always packed with people, and for good reason! Bean Vault totally lives up to the hype. If rich coffee and delicious pastries and snacks sound good to you, then get into Bean Vault as soon as you possibly can.

Kuppi Coffee (Edgewater)

Kuppi is your destination spot for a coffee date with a friend. You will find comfy couches, amazing coffee, and some of the best Avocado Toast you will ever try. What more could you ask for?

Boxwood Coffee (Summit)

Rainy Sunday morning calls for some coffee from the cutest coffee shop in summit, nj ☕️☔️|| #EEEEEATS #phaat #rainyday #coffeeshop

Boxwood Coffee specializes in small batch roasting to offer you the best, richest flavor. The owners, husband and wife Stephen and Erin Bellamy, make this adorable cafe feel just like home, so treat yourself to a cup of their signature honey cinnamon latte and one of their fresh-baked cookies ASAP!

Mod Cup (Jersey City)

Mod Cup, located in Jersey City, is your go-to if you’re looking for a fun atmosphere and an AMAZING cold brew. Make sure you buy a bag of their roasted coffee beans to take home – trust us, you won’t regret it!

Drip Coffee (Madison)

Looking for a coffee shop to work or study? Your search is over. Drip Coffee has the perfect environment to sit and stay a while, and oh yeah, did we mention that both the coffee and food are to die for? Treat yourself to a cup of coffee and one of their famous chocolate chip cookie bars.

Brewed Awakening (Metuchen)

Brewed Awakening has some incredible coffee, and their food is CRAZY GOOD. We love the Eggs Benedict but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Did we mention the beautiful mural? AKA Insta-perf 101.

Brewshot (Jersey City)

At Brewshot, they believe that coffee isn’t just a drink; it’s a way of life and should be a cherished part of your daily routine. So whether you are looking to grab a cup of coffee to go or you want to take full advantage of their cozy shop, you have to check this place out!

OQ Coffee (Highland Park)

Are you passionate about coffee? Do you love to know where your coffee comes from and how it was roasted? Ben Shellack, owner of OQ Coffee, has ALL the answers. OQ will take your coffee addiction to new heights as you sample all of their different blends and varieties. Warning: You might have a hard time choosing a favorite.

Bwe Kafe (Jersey City)

Happy #MothersDay! 💕

A post shared by bwè kafe (@bwekafe) on

Bwe brings their Haitian flare to both Hoboken and Jersey City. Driven to help the youth in their home country, Bwe only serves coffee that includes beans sourced from Haiti. We recommend trying their Japanese Slow Drip Cold Brew and a fresh pastry.

Check out CUPSapp on iOS or Android for even more on-point cafes.
