West Coast Caffeine

We all have that one friend from college that moved out to California, right? You know, they  regularly  post pictures on Instagram with captions like “A little sun and a lot of fun,” and then call to tell you how absolutely amazing the west is?

Don’t get us wrong. We have no doubts about California’s breezy weather and sparkling waters — Californians have sunshine pouring from their ears. But what about what really matters? What about the coffee?!

We took a little trip up to San Francisco, got highly caffeinated, and concluded that, without a doubt, the city has some killer coffee spots. Take a look:

Beacon Coffee and Pantry

805 Columbus Ave, San Francisco, CA 94133

Beacon isn’t in the cool crowd. They are the cool crowd. It’s one of those places where the barista probably studies coffee beans in their free time, the froth in your cappuccino is straight-up clouds, and you always end up sitting next to a really good looking guy or gal. The space takes you back to those summer days at the Cape with just enough nautical cute (and no kitsch).

Provender Coffee

1415 18th St San Francisco, CA 94107

Okay so putting avocado on toast is trendy. If you didn’t know that, do you even Instagram? But anyways, Provender Coffee is the place to hop on board and post cute pictures of your cado-toast. It’s delicious. Seriously delicious. Cuppa coffee and avo on bread. Let’s be real, it’s a dream and so are the two co-owners – Austin and Tony Ferrari.

La Capra Coffee

50 Fremont St, San Francisco, CA 94105

Welcome to the marriage of your semi-crazy Italian grandmother and the hip, warm vibe of San Francisco. Walk into La Capra with an empty stomach and a classic case of the yawns and walk out with a stacked-tall sandwich and a hit-the-spot caffeine fix.

Paramo Coffee

4 Embarcadero Center, San Francisco, CA 94111

Where donkeys fly. That’s right, each cup of coffee is accompanied by a cute little floating donkey. This is a downright true cafe that believes in the seed to cup process. In fact, the only dishonest part about Paramo is that soaring donkey. Paramo is a coffee oasis in an otherwise commercial and chain-dominated hood.

Jackson Place Cafe

633 Battery St, San Francisco, CA 94111

Picture this: You’ve been walking the busy city streets all day. You’re so done. Like “if I have to walk up another hill, my calf muscles will give out” done. You turn the corner and BAM: Jackson Place. This is your mini-trip outside the city. Relax with a New Orleans Cold Brew and soothe those poor Achilles tendons.

The Station SF

596 Pacific Ave, San Francisco, CA 94133

We read their menu around lunchtime and had to go eat something immediately. The Station is where a food lover goes to feast, and where a coffee addict goes to get their fix. They want their patrons to engage with each other instead of screens so they turn off the WiFi from 11am-1pm.  If amazing food, fresh coffee, and the prospect of making a friend doesn’t excite you, UMMM IDK.

Coffee Mission

3325 24th St San Francisco, CA 94110

Did you hear that? It’s your sweet tooth talking! It wants one thing and one thing only: A Ghirardelli White Chocolate Mocha. Come to Coffee Mission to satisfy your sugar craving AND get that caffeine boost. We suggest snagging a table by the window for prime Missionite watching.

Wildcraft Espresso Bar

2299 Market St Unit A San Francisco, CA 94114

We’re going to let Celestine A. from Yelp take the stage here. She writes, “The latte with sheep’s milk is nothing short of extraordinary… I went back for a hot version the very next day!” Sheep’s Milk + Bone broth? Sold.

262 Divisadero St, San Francisco, CA 94111

Repose is your in-and-out, no BS place with a sophisticated gothic atmosphere and classy marble counters (we likey!). It’s stocked with knowledgeable employees, so don’t hesitate to ask for a recommendation. They recently opened  on the Divis so go show them some love.

The Richfield

195 5th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94118

The Richfield is charming and downright cool but all you really need to know about is “The Brekkie,” a breakfast sandwich stacked on a sweet Hawaiian bread. If you haven’t picked up on it by now, we like bread as much as we like coffee. The Richfield is the boxing-themed sister cafe to Snowbird in Sunset. We have only love for this coffee fam!

Matching Half

1799 McAllister St, San Francisco, CA 94117

Matching Half is the spot to grab breakfast with, well, your matching half. Snatch up a seat, go for a bagel, and sip on a latte. The food is unbeatable- each dish is plated very elegantly and there are fresh flowers along the bar. A peaceful, satisfying morning with the bf/gf/bff awaits.

Fayes Video

3614 18th St, San Francisco, CA 94110

At Fayes, you can grab a coffee AND a video rental. It’s basically the way cooler version of Netflix and Chill. Bonus: pick up a quirky, unique birthday card for mom or a new piece of art for your apartment wall. If you’re feeling really frisky they have a bowl of free condoms by the door – Safe sex SF!

Don’t forget to download CUPS app! We’ll show you around town.
