‘Tis the season of hotel rooftop bars, public pools, Coney Island day trips, and all the iced coffee concoctions you can imagine: summer in New York City. And we’ve got even more coffee shops on CUPS to fuel you through those sizzling summer days. From Brooklyn to the Bronx. From a classic latte, to a nutella hot chocolate, to an iced “Voodoochild” (we’ll explain), get with these CUPS shops this summer and you’ll be, how do we say it? Caffeine-insured.
One of the best things about Greenpoint — aside from all the beautiful logo typography, delectable brunch spots and iconic Manhattan views — are its coffee shops. We welcome Cafe Edna, a definite gem in the rough, to the CUPS family. Comes complete with burrito options.
Get off at the beloved 23rd st. A/C/E stop in Manhattan, and you’re likely headed west to get your Chelsea Market fix, spend an afternoon on the High Line or on the way to Bean & Bean for an afternoon pick-me-up. They roast the beans onsite using a micro roaster and all the coffee is both organic and fair- trade. Bean & Bean also serves Jamaican Blue Mountain & Hawaiian Kona, both rare finds in Manhattan. Either way, you’ve made a good choice.
Serving coffee by day, cocktails by night, The Flat/Brooklyn Speed Coffee is our one of our newest CUPS shops. From 7am-4pm, get a cup of brew at Brooklyn Speed (the Flat’s coffee joint), serving ethically-sourced, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance and Organic-Certified beans. Does it get any better than that? Oh, right, it does. They also offer Stan’s Breakfast Burritos. Holla.
All Union Square dwellers rejoice: the East Village location of a New York City coffee institution, Pushcart Coffee, is now on the CUPS app. Along with two other locations in the city, we’d like to think we’ve successfully completed the trifecta of Pushcart Coffee CUPS offerings.
Nutella crazed? Try the Nutella Hot Chocolate.
“It’s time to get UP” according to Uptown Roasters, a new CUPS shop located in East Harlem. Unique drink names play to the shop’s name: ShakeUP, yUPpie, DripcUP, PourcUP, PresscUP, AmericUP, WarmUP, ColdcUP, DoubleUP. For now, I think we’ll double UP on the espressso when we visit Uptown this summer.
While you’re making your weekend L.E.S. trip to Whole Foods, the Hester Street Fair or gearing up for another ratchet night at Pianos (we know… us, too), make a pit stop at Mighty Brew Bros. You’ll find anything from a Colada Especial to a refreshing Matcha Soda. Yum.
Nice & Sweet Cafe is home to The Play Bar (connected to the Museum of Sex) in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. Do you like sexy puns? We obviously do. Their menu includes lots of racy takes on classics. Drinks such as the Bombon Latte to a “Bee’s Knees” are made from Intelligentsia coffee beans. Grab a quick “Bang Mi” (pun intended) if you’re also hungry for a Vietnamese-style sandwich.
One word to describe the vibe at Sweetleaf: Classy as f*ck. Sorry, that’s three words.
Check out Sweetleaf’s menu on CUPS and you might start with this question: What the hell is an Iced Voodoochild? We’ll tell you. One of its specialty drinks, an Iced Voodoochild from Sweetleaf is a Vietnamese-style cold brew. Not feelin’ it? Try the Iced Rocket Fuel instead, a cold-brewed coffee with chicory, maple syrup and milk. Stop by their LIC flagship store to take a whiff of all their freshly baked goods – made on the premises!
Headed down a little further south in Brooklyn this summer? We’re talking Sheepshead Bay. If you need a coffee fix, check out Grind Espresso Bar – it’s a solid option with offerings such as a NOLA Cold Brew, Dolce Cinnamon Latte, Espresso Frapp, “Chunky Monkey,” Biscotti Frapp or Torino Frapp.
A kosher farm-to-table café & espresso bar serving creative food and exceptional coffee, we’re pumped to feature Moss Cafe on the CUPS app this summer.
Fun fact: Moss was actually brought to life on Kickstarter.
